ok i did decided to write a wish list

HI , it has come to that point .. i am missing fish finger sandwiches , Bangers and mash , baked beans, p.g tips
Indian takeaway Yorkshire pudding Sunday dinner  cornish pasty .. PORK PIE , Black pudding, Frazzels
no i'm not missing home .. but i do want some English food. So i propose two possible plans.
First and most simple
Is there somewhere in Ljubljana i can get my hands on some english food  beans i have found .. but only sometimes in hoffer .. sausages do they have our type of sausages here Pg tips
if you have any tips for me on English food places let me know i will be very grateful.
The next suggestion is this.
If someone is going back to england ? or coming to Ljubljana can you bring me some of the stuff ?? if you have space ?? i will either reimburse you or if your new to Ljubljana perhaps we can trade English food for perhaps my time for the day showing you around talking you through few things.
I just want some English food.

The Brits Do Bonfire
“Socializing in the ex-pat community”
Remember, Remember the 5th of November! The British lads in Slovenia certainly didn’t forget. In the cold night rain the host of the evening William from England, entertained guests with a traditional Bonfire night celebration. Guests enjoyed a warm fire, a glass of Slovene mulled wine, a baked potato and some acoustic guitar jamming; a perfect way to spend an evening discussing all manner of issues with people from across Europe and beyond.
The celebration of Bonfire night originates from the foiling of a gunpowder plot to destroy parliament on November the 5th 1605 by catholic conspirers. Traditionally fireworks are let off during the celebrations and a fire is lit with a “Guy” (a representation of Guy Fawkes; the leader of the plot) on top.
The Brits Celebration perhaps demonstrates the warm welcome many ex-packs can receive from their follow travelers and settlers in Slovenia. Although your reasons for living in Slovenia may primarily be to submerge yourself in the Slovene culture, often talking with people from in the same situation can be reassuring. But how do you meet fellow comrades?
Tips for making friends in the ex-pat community.
1) If you hear someone speaking your own language say hello and begin a conversation. Don’t be afraid to try to make friends; a social network is one of the many aspects of creating a true life in Slovenia. The people you met can also share there experiences and lessons with you.
2) Attend classes. Are you learning Slovene yet? If not you really aught to look into this Slovene lessons are also a fun place to met people in the same boat.
3) Take up some activities you like doing. It’s the Slovenian way to be active, so join in. Take up a sport or join a club. Take opportunities when they arise, learn to say yes to life.
Eventually I’m sure you’ll meet a whole host of strange and wonderful people. Maybe even me

3 Key things to know when moving to Ljubljana
Ljubljana is a lovely city to live in but it isn’t paradise. Here I look at a few of the problems you may encounter when starting a new life in Slovenia. I feel it is worth being prepared for them and perhaps me sharing the lessons I have learnt on the way.
1.Registering
Anyone who lives in Slovenia for longer then three months is required by law to register in those three months. Registering is worth doing as soon as possible, as after receiving your personal number you can do other things like open a bank account, get a tax number required for work and register as unemployed. Be aware that this process can be a long a tedious one. If at all possible bring a Slovene friend along; it will make things go faster.

2 Getting a apartment
You’ll need to find somewhere to live in Slovenia. Nepremicnine is a great search engine site that is also available in English. Two key things to remember here are:
Adverts can be deceiving- you may find advertisements for two room apartments thinking that means two bedrooms, however you may find yourself with a bedroom and a toilet. It’s worth asking some simple question before arranging a viewing to save a wasted journey.
Be prepared to be turned away for being foreign- I don’t think there is any other word but racism for it. So many times when searching for a apartment my Slovene Girl friend made the call and when I turned up with here at the viewing all of a sudden they decided they didn’t need any one to live there! This usually happens with old landlords or ladies and to be honest there is not much you can do. Younger landlords or Landlords who have travelled themselves are usually ok.

Your not a tourist any more
Ljubljana is a lovely relaxed place to spend a summer, however Ljubljana is a capital city and now you are coming here to live. Don’t expect to live how you have lived here while on holiday. When I first came here, I loved the relaxed environment of drinking coffee going for strolls. If you have decided to live in Ljubljana and want to make a life here and you’re not Bill Gates, you’ll need to get a job like any other place in the world and live within a budget. This can be a hard transition from holidaying in a place and living in a place.
Moving house is supposed to be one of the most stressful experiences in life. If this is true moving to any different country is a difficult process and should not be underestimated. The first few months will be hard work but it gets easier, and eventually you’ll find yourself established enough to sit back and say with a smile “I’m here, I’m a Ljubljanen”
